Responsibilities
As Software Architect for MyFrey and TwinTrade, you will own the end-to-end application and integration architecture across our execution, optimization, and data platforms. Your role is to ensure that the systems are robust, scalable, and fit for an increasingly autonomous, AI-driven future. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering Managers, and Engineers to translate product vision into coherent technical designs.
This is a senior, hand-on role combining architectural leadership with active involvement in design decisions, technical trade-offs, and complex problem solving across multiple teams.
- Define and maintain the target architecture for MyFrey and TwinTrade, aligned with Frey’s product vision and strategic pillars
- Design scalable, cloud-native application architectures on AWS, covering workflow automation, optimization engines, integrations, and user-facing systems
- Own integration patterns and API strategy across MyFrey, TwinTrade, ERP, carriers, freight systems, and external partners
- Define and promote DevOps and platform engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability, and environment management
- Establish architectural standards and guardrails for reliability, security, performance, and maintainability in AWS environments
- Guide teams on domain modeling, service boundaries, data flows, and event-driven design
- Partner with Product Managers to ensure architectural decisions support longterm product outcomes and roadmap priorities
- Review and challenge technical designs, ensuring consistency and quality across teams
- Support engineering teams in addressing technical debt while enabling continued delivery
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Software Architect to design, drive, and evolve complex, distributed systems in production. The role requires strong hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS, modern DevOps practices, and TypeScript-based technology stacks. You have a deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design and can translate complex business domains into clear architectural structures. You work in a structured way with architectural decision-making and thrive in a product-led environment with close collaboration across business and engineering. You are able to balance scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintenance.
- Proven experience designing and operating complex, distributed systems in production
- Deep hand-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures
- Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, including bounded contexts and domain modeling
- Solid experience with modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, laC, observability, incident response etc.)
- Strong experience with TypeScript-based backend services, APIs, and possibly frontend solutions
- Ability to work in a structured way using ADRs, technical design documents, and architecture reviews
- Experience from operationally complex domains such as supply chain, logistics, or trading is a plus, as is exposure to AI-enabled systems, platform engineering concepts, and enterprise security, compliance, and audit requirements
