Principal .NET Developer

Project overview

Unik System Design (USD) is a Danish company with offices in Vejle (HQ), Aalborg and Copenhagen. Unik System Design delivers software products for the housing/property management industry. The products are marked leading in Denmark.
Unik Bolig is the leading housing ERP system in Denmark with a market share of around 70%. The product suite contains everything from property management, facility management, rent collection, a full finance system, task tracking, and tenant service portals. The new SaaS platform will replace the existing product offering. The new product will be delivered from their “hybrid cloud” consisting of an Azure local stack connected to Azure. The new colleagues will be part of distributed teams with team members in Aalborg (Denmark).

Responsibilities

As our Principal Engineer, you will, together with our architects, define and drive the technical direction of our product uHabi. You’ll take ownership of the architectural vision, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and long-term technical health. While you work closely with development teams, you operate outside the Scrum teams — setting the guardrails, not running the sprints.
You’ll be the one connecting long-term technical vision with day-to-day implementation. The teams will look to you for clarity, consistency, and confidence in the system’s evolution. You won’t manage people — but your impact will be felt across everything they build.

• Define the overarching system architecture and guide its evolution over time
• Make key decisions on technology stack, system design, and integration patterns
• Collaborate with Scrum teams to translate architectural principles into actionable solutions
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and sparring to senior developers
• Challenge existing solutions and drive continuous improvement in code quality and engineering practices
• Ensure that architectural choices align with business goals and product strategy
• Stay hands-on with coding and prototyping — you lead by example, not PowerPoint

Requirements

• 5+ years’ working experience with backend development in C# / .NET
• Azure or other cloud providers
• RabbitMQ or similar message brokers
• MSSQL
• Entity Framework Core
• Microservices architecture

Will be an advantage:

• E2E testing technologies (like Cypress)
• CI/CD
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Docker/containerization
• Strong understanding of distributed systems
